Coaching Agreement

Welcome!

I'm so thrilled to partner with you on this coaching journey. My role is to create a space where you can dream big, dig deep, and take meaningful steps toward the life and career you envision for yourself. Together, we'll uncover what truly lights you up and craft a path that feels natural, powerful, and uniquely yours. To make sure we're on the same page, I've outlined our agreement below. Please take a moment to review it carefully. Scheduling your first session means you're ready to dive in and agree to these terms.

Coaching Overview:

  • Coaching is a collaborative and forward-focused process designed to help you clarify your goals, identify obstacles, and take actionable steps toward creating meaningful change. While I bring tools and strategies to support your growth, you are the expert in your own life. Together, we'll pull back the curtains and let the sunlight shine on your innate wisdom to help you align your actions with your aspirations. Coaching emphasizes accountability, self-discovery, and progress without guarantees of specific outcomes.

Scope of Coaching:

  • Mentoring vs. Coaching: Mentoring is a relationship where an experienced professional shares their expertise, advice, and guidance to help someone develop specific skills or knowledge in a particular area. Unlike mentoring coaching doesn't involve advice-giving or instruction. Instead, it's focused on empowering you to discover your own answers and solutions.

  • Therapy vs. Coaching: Therapy focuses on understanding and resolving past challenges, emotional wounds, and patterns that may be holding you back. It's a process rooted in uncovering and recovery, often delving deeply into emotions, trauma, or mental health concerns. Coaching, in contrast, is future-oriented and assumes you are ready to take steps forward. If therapeutic support becomes necessary, I'll encourage you to add to your support team and seek help from a licensed professional.

  • Consulting vs. Coaching: Consulting involves an expert analyzing problems and offering solutions or strategies based on their own experience and knowledge. In coaching, I won't provide you with answers or solutions. Instead, we'll work together to draw on your insights and creativity, helping you develop strategies that feel authentic and sustainable.

  • Coaching is Not: Coaching is not a substitute for psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, legal or financial advice, medical care, or any other professional services. Coaching does not diagnose, treat, or cure mental or medical conditions. It is your responsibility to seek independent professional guidance as needed.

My Coaching Journey & Approach:

  • I am currently training through the Wayfinder Life Coach Training program and will complete my certification in July 2025. Beyond this, I plan to continue my professional development by pursuing Professional Life Coach Certification through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

  • In our coaching sessions, I will be practicing the tools and strategies I'm learning in my training. Your feedback in invaluable to me--I welcome insights on what resonates with you as well as anything that isn't quite working.

  • At times, I may pause our session for a "Let's Have Tea" moment--a brief, informal check-in where we step back from the coaching process and reflect on your immediate experience. This allows us to deepen our work together with openness and curiosity.

  • I come to coaching with the belief that we are equal partners in the discovery process. I trust that you already hold the wisdom and answers you seek--my role is to help illuminate your internal North Star, creating space for clarity, insight and action. Coaching is a collaborative journey, and I am here to support and challenge you in meaningful ways as you move toward the life you envision.

Responsibilities:

  • I will maintain the ethics and standards of professional behavior as outlined by the International Coach Federation (ICF). You can review the ICF Code of Ethics here: https://coachingfederation.org/ethics/code-of-ethics.

  • If an issue arises during coaching that I believe would be better addressed through therapy or additional professional support, I will communicate this with you and encourage you to seek appropriate resources.

  • You are responsible for your own personal, physical, mental, and emotional well-being, including the decisions, actions, and results that arise from our coaching work.

  • You agree that I will not be held liable for any actions or inactions related to coaching services or the outcomes of coaching. You also agree to indemnify and hold me harmless from any claims, liabilities, or damages arising from our coaching relationship.

  • I will bring myself to those coaching sessions sober and free from distractions. I trust that you will do the same.

Confidentiality and Exceptions:

  • I will follow industry-standard best practices and Utah, USA law to maintain the confidentiality of our sessions and your personal records.

  • Exceptions to confidentiality include:

    • If I believe you are at imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, I may notify appropriate mental health professionals or authorities.

    • If required by law or a court order, I may disclose personal information.

    • Communications via email and text are not encrypted or secure, so please avoid sharing sensitive information through these channels.

    • I may discuss general topics from our sessions (without identifying details) for training, mentoring, or supervision purposes.

Communications:

  • You can reach me via email at info@yourpowertothrive.com or by an agreed upon texting platform. I aim to respond to messages within 24-48 hours, depending on the urgency.

  • For brief phone support (15 minutes or less) between sessions, I'm happy to assist free of charge when my schedule allows. For calls that extend beyond 15 minutes, time will be billed in 15-minute increments at your regular session rate.

  • If your message is urgent, please indicate this, and I will do my best to respond promptly.

Rescheduling and Missed Appointments:

  • Your scheduled session is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to reschedule, please notify me at least 24 hr in advance, via email at info@yourpowertothrive.com, or text me on our agreed upon platform.

  • Emergencies such as illness, accidents, or family crises will be accommodated, case-by-case.

  • Coaching fees are non-refundable if a session is canceled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the appointment, except in emergencies.

  • If you do not show up, without notification or rescheduling, for two appointments during our coaching relationship, we will evaluate whether or not coaching is appropriate for you right now.

Payment:

  • During my coach training, I accept payment in the form of money or barter. If you choose to pay with money, you may pay what you can. Barter options are flexible; for example, I'd be delighted to receive your favorite poem in exchange for a session.

  • Payment can be made via PayPal at @thriveandcelebrate, or Zelle via 224-300-0455.

Discovery Session:

  • Our coaching relationship begins with a 30-min Discovery Session--a chance for us to explore whether coaching is the right next step for you and whether we are a good fit to work together.

  • There is no obligation to continue with additional sessions if you feel coaching with me is not the right path for you at this time.

  • Likewise, I will assess whether my coaching aligns with your needs and may suggest alternative support if I believe another approach would better serve you.

  • My goal is to ensure that you feel confident and supported in moving forward in a way that is best for you.

Termination of Coaching:

  • If you wish to end our coaching relationship, a one-session notice is appreciated, ensuring an opportunity to reflect on your personal growth and a respectful closure.

  • If I determine that our coaching relationship is not in alignment--whether with my coaching approach, my professional boundaries, or what I believe will best serve you--I reserve the right to conclude our work together. If this occurs, I will communicate my reasons with care and may offer referrals to other coaches or professionals who might better support your needs.

Make an Appointment:

  • To schedule an appointment, please use my online scheduler:

  • If you don't see a time that fits your schedule, please feel free to reach out to me directly so we can find an alternative.
